Herbal magic

I've been experimenting with some of the delicious herbs growing this time of year - some of them in our own yard! I'm having the most luck right now with rosemary ... the cilantro has gone to seed too quickly, or not grown at all. Basil is now doing okay, though not flourishing brilliantly as I'd like. And we have a lovely lemon mint in the front that is just fine. Oh, and the lovage - the first one we planted - is taking over the pot it's in.

Some of my favourite new combinations.

Cilantro as a dessert herb: cilantro with pineapple. Even, possibly, with chocolate! Definitely mixed into a fruit salad.

Basil: so far, I'm sticking with the standby and chopping it up over pasta. I know there will be other tastes to explore.

Rosemary: delicious lightly fried with eggs. I also am feeling it would be good mixed with almond milk, though I don't know quite how to do this yet, or in what format.

Lemon mint: with chocolate, of course! Or as a mixed green to munch with a main course.
